* Voor de toekomst wordt er rekening gehouden met een veel sterkere economische groei. Die groei wordt nu ook al ingecalculeerd om de vergrijzing in de toekomst te kunnen betalen. Of beter: zelfs met die hoge groei weten we dat de vergrijzing onbetaalbaar is. Dat is dus dubbel irrealistisch in het licht van de recente realisaties.

* De componenten die zorgen voor de groei van de populatie in België zijn tweevoudig: immigratie en de sterke groei van de allochtone bevolking. Als ons land alleen een immigratiebeleid ontwikkelt zonder een economisch immigratiebeleid én een economisch integratiebeleid, zal het zijn draagkracht verder ondergraven.

België scoort erg zwak economisch, financieel en budgettair. Alle studies wijzen op een achteruitgang van onze welvaart vergeleken met andere Europese regio’s, en a fortiori met opkomende economieën. Dat is het grotere beeld, the bigger picture. Een focus op de tekenen van beterschap – of wat daarvoor moet doorgaan- getuigt van een verregaande struisvogelpolitiek. Alle langetermijntekenen wijzen maar in één richting: een structurele achteruitgang van de Belgische economie.
